Expanded Perspective. Meaningful Impact.

Engineer. Author. Servant Leader.

Gail M. Carter, P.E., MBA, MA is an engineer, author, facilitator, and lifelong learner whose career has been shaped by a simple belief: seeing differently can change what becomes possible.

Across more than two decades of professional experience, Gail has worked at the intersection of engineering, infrastructure, energy, aviation, project leadership, organizational improvement, and strategic execution. Her experience spans complex projects and organizations, where she has helped teams navigate change, solve problems, strengthen systems, and move important work forward.

Her perspective is equally shaped by life beyond the workplace. Through writing, faith, reflection, teaching, and community involvement, Gail explores how people can navigate unexpected change with greater clarity, purpose, resilience, and intention.

A Career Built Around Complex Challenges.

Gail began her career as a civil engineer and has since contributed to major infrastructure, aviation, energy, and organizational initiatives throughout the United States.

Her professional experience includes project and program leadership, operational readiness, strategic planning, performance reporting, process improvement, stakeholder coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

She has worked alongside engineers, executives, project teams, public agencies, utilities, airport organizations, contractors, and other stakeholders to turn complex information into practical action.

Throughout that journey, one theme has remained consistent:

Understand the challenge.

Expand the perspective.

Create a path forward.

Beyond Engineering

Gail’s interests have never fit neatly within one discipline.

Her education spans civil engineering, business administration, management, and sustainable international development, reflecting a curiosity about not only how things are built, but how organizations, communities, and people grow.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, an Executive MBA, a graduate management credential, and a Master of Arts in Sustainable International Development. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer.

Today, those experiences inform her writing, workshops, learning experiences, and ongoing exploration of leadership, technology, human-centered AI, personal development, faith, and purposeful change.

Author & Creator

Writing has become another way for Gail to explore the lessons found at the intersection of professional experience and real life.

Her books and learning resources examine themes including perspective, purpose, faith, resilience, unexpected transitions, personal growth, and meaningful impact.

Her published works include Divine Detours, 5,000 Smiles to Happiness, and Journaling Divine Miracles, along with companion learning experiences and resources designed to move ideas beyond the page and into reflection and action.

Through Illuminare Publishing, Gail also develops and publishes her growing body of written and educational work.

“Gail is knowledgeable, thorough and dedicated. Plus, she is great to work with.” - Dean H.

"I teach leadership also. I think the point she made that was very encouraging to me was to show up. If I hadn't shown up tonight, I wouldn't have learned several new things. And I like her approach. I found that very inspiring and that even though I could relate to many of the things she said, the visualization exercises reminded me how important that is for accomplishing your goals. So, time well spent." - Dr. Lorretta F.

“Gail earned my trust in her work and her integrity, managed complex projects, and delivered results that exceeded expectations. I enthusiastically recommend Gail Carter.” - Robert M.

“Gail consistently ensured tasks were completed thoroughly and on time. Her ability to provide technical information quickly and accurately was well received and appreciated.” - Mike P.

" I attended the seminar today because I was interested in doing something I've always wanted to do in my life. I was told that“ I should do this and now that I've learned some strategies of how to unlock the potential that was already inside of me, I'll gain more courage and positivity to go forward with my inner personal goals and see where it leads me.” - Farron

"Divine Detours has blessed me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed! With heartfelt wisdom and spiritual depth, this book gently reminded me that God is present not just in the major milestones of life, but in the small, seemingly inconvenient moments too, and that He is quietly at work shaping, refining, and orchestrating something greater than I could imagine. It left me encouraged, grounded, and more aware of God’s constant, loving hand in every season. Great book for those who are/have questioned their purpose in life or the purpose behind life’s detours, and even for the curious readers!" - Crystal

“I was introduced to this book, "5,000 Smiles to Happiness" when I was feeling stuck in my life. It was interesting to see how differently and positively she views empathy and service. Not only has she written from her heart but also shared a lot of practical notes on how to research, handle unexpected situations and seek success in challenging situations. I would definitely recommend this book as it gave me a boost of positivity and challenged me to get out of a rut.” - Soundarya

"Thoroughly enjoyed this book of adventures - such an interesting and easy read… and so encouraging! It’s comforting to know that all of the little things - when added up - become a volume of God’s providence. No matter how small (or large!) these encounters are huge to Him, and build something in us and in His Kingdom that no one could imagine! This book beautifully illustrates how God uses each event of obedience to build a magnificent testimony of faithfulness that we can clearly see (often times in hindsight). Highly Recommend." - Lorri D.
